Year 9 Unit 2: Lesson 2; May 26 2011.

Today we started filming our Unit 2 Zhang Yi Mou film. We managed to film two scenes, "A" and "B" in one location at school with ease. As our film was set to have no dialogue,  any setting was convenient even if it was noisy because we could just mute the clip. However, we were still very aware of our settings and if there were any obvious people in the camera shot.

We had to include some Chinese elements into our film because the director films Chinese movies. Since our film isn't really based on Chinese facts, we made the actors wear Chinese costumes as a visual element.

We headed off to the field to film to start our first two scenes. We needed an adult to play the role of the father so we asked the field manager, Colin, to help us. Fortunately, he was free and was very eager to help us. For our happy scene, we filmed some scenes of the father and son happily playing football together. For the sad scene, we filmed the stranger interrupting the game. Then the father turns to the son and tells him to run. We filmed Erik running behind one of the big blue field barriers. Then we filmed the father and stranger talking, but the conversation becomes intense and starts to get physical. In the end, the father gets shot. We wanted to include a point of view shot so we had the father hold the camera while he was being shot, it created a lot of suspense.

Overall, I'm happy with the progress that we've made and I think at this rate, we can finish filming by next lesson!
